“I love you to the moon and back” Enough said for the mothers in my life (mom and sister) and my children know it is the best thing to say as you’re falling to sleep before having sweet dreams (we use it as a way of saying our family that is passed is watching over us and when dreaming they are the ones we play with in our dreams) and gives you a sense of peace knowing family love is all that matters in the end.

Printing on white linen paper gives the cards a fancy feel.  For best results, score the center line with a bone folder to create that perfectly crisp fold.  We found matching envelopes in “Orange Fizz” at Xpdex as well as clear gift boxes that make for pretty presentation.  If you’ve never been to Xpedex you are in for a treat.  It’s located at 3700 West 1987 South in Salt Lake City.

We think no reason is the best reason to throw a party … especially for the little people in our lives!

The children’s book “Guess How Much I Love You” was the inspiration for this party scene.  In the book, Little Nutbrown Hare and Big Nutbrown Hare go back and forth describing their love, with Big Nutbrown Hare declaring ”I love you to the moon and back.”  We used details from the book to create decor, food, and favors for a memorable children’s party.

For the centerpiece we typed up quotes from the book, adhered to popsicle sticks and placed them in a planter.  You could also grow your own wheat grass for the same affect.  Check out the segment blogger, Susan Peterson did on growing your own wheat grass.

Create Little Nutbrown Hare sandwiches for lunch.  Build your sandwich on light wheat bread and cut off the top, about a 1/2 inch.  Cut the top piece in half and rotate to form your bunny ears.  Create the eyes, whiskers, and teeth using string cheese.  Finish the eyes and nose with raisins.  Peanut butter works great for ahdering the elements to the bread.

“Starting when I was little my mom would sit me down on Mother’s day for a special talk. She would tell me about all the things she loved about being my mom. Then she would talk to me about the wonderful qualities she saw in me and how she hoped that one day I would get to be a mom and find as much joy in it as she did. At the end of our talk she would give me a small gift since I would be a future mother. Through this tradition I developed a love for Mother’s day. It has become a time for me to look around at all the wonderful women in my life and see the great qualities they have. It has become a celebration of womanhood. I love my mother so much but at the age of 51 she suffered a stroke that took her short-term memory. Since my mother could no longer remember tomorrow what I gave her yesterday I decided to horror her by making more of an effort to reach out and tell the women around me how much I appreciate them. This has become a fun tradition for me and my daughters. Every year we make a batch of treats and a small note and deliver them to some of the wonderful women in our lives. As we do this I also take the time to tell my daughters about how much I absolutely love being their mom. I am so grateful to my mother for her wonderful example to me and for her ability to see the good in all those around her.”
